I work mainly in acrylic on canvas, using large firm brushes or a palette knife. I often incorporate cotton fabric remnants and clothes labels into my work. I am inspired by places I visit, both near and far.
Something on my journey will lead me to the choice of fabric, for its colour or its repetitive pattern. A moment or a memory of the journey creates the character, the people or the objects in my work.
Any text within the work is often ambiguous, so the overall interpretation of it, is lost in individual translation - I like this confusion in my work !
HANDMADE ITEMS & CURIOSITIES
Alongside the work on canvas I create 2D and 3D pieces inspired by the original artworks. These items can be in the form of a transformation of an existing object.
Selected pieces of artwork or parts of artwork are also printed onto objects to create items for household use and decoration.
About Me ...
An Artist, of British origin, living and working in Brittany since 2006. A former student of Fine Art at Kent Institute of Art and Design (KIAD), Maidstone UK and of the University for the Creative Arts, Canterbury UK. Degree in Fine Art BA (Hons).
Previous studio space at the West End Studios, Kent
Exhibited work at the Castle Art Gallery UK and the Nucleus Art Centre UK
Participant of the Canterbury Arts Festival. Current studio and exhibition space in Brittany 22, France. Visits possible by appointment as hours variable.
